'Tis all a chequer-board of nights and days
Where the destiny of men for pieces plays:
Hither and thither moves, and mates, and slays,
And one by one back in the closet lays.

Back to Texas from New York City

Throughout my time in New York, friends and family always asked me when I am coming back to Texas. After living in New York for nearly six years, Lia and I finally decided to move back. Most of the reasons came down to Texas being where most of our friends and family remained, lower taxes and cost of living, and the general openness of space even when living in a large city like Dallas.

I was lucky in that there were a few opportunities in Texas in each major metropolitan city. Work for Remedy Developers in general was pretty good at the time too. There were opportunities all across the country from East to West Coast, if I wanted to move somewhere else other than Texas. For the adventurous, a position was also available to do Remedy development work as a contractor in Iraq. It was a four year contract with a salary of $275,000 per year, a vast sum several times what most Remedy Developers make in the States. I considered applying, but the job required that you already have Secret security clearance.

I started working at Countrywide barely a month before the mortgage crisis hit the economy. Thankfully, I along with the rest of my team came through the initial turmoil unscathed. Since that time Lia and I have been trying to sell our house in New York, and look forward to purchasing a home in Dallas.

Time will tell what happens from here.....
